The research activities in the Laboratory of Structural Neurobiology are aimed at understanding the relationship between structure and function of ion channels. Our main goal is to gather structural information on the coupling between ligand binding and channel opening for a variety of ligand-activated ion channels.

In the context of Neurocypres we will focus on two type of homologs of the family of cys-loop receptors.

  1. acetylcholine binding proteins (AChBPs), which are molluscan homologs of the extracellular domain of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor.
  2. prokaryotic homologs of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, which contain an extracellular domain and a transmembrane domain. (partner 1)

We will express and purify both type of homologs at large scale required for structural studies with X-ray crystallography. Next partner >
