The CNR Institute of Neuroscience’s Section of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology is a joint venture between the CNR and the University of Milan that covers various aspects of cellular and molecular biology and pharmacology with the aim of exploring the mechanisms of action of drugs at molecular and cell level.
Dr. Gottis group has concentrated on identifying and characterising native neuronal AChRs in different areas of the brain and the autonomic nervous system by investigating the functional role of the different subtypes, studying their in vivo and in vitro regulation by exposure to nicotine and nicotinic drugs, and synthesising and characterising new subtype-specific nicotinic ligands.
The group is also involved in studying human neuronal nAChRs as possible antigens in a number of autoimmune and neurological diseases, and as therapeautic targets in neurodegenerative diseases. Next partner >
